    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

    More clues
    4. My friend and I flee from our kingdom when everyone, including my parents are turned into ice.
    5. Before completly freezing, my mother tells me to seek out seven friends of hers.
    6. I end up finding shelter with their seven cousins instead.

Yes, this is the younger Snow White from Filmation's "A Snow White Christmas." I'm all up for cartoon retellings of fairy tales-- but this special is so bad, it's hilarious. Although the voices are pretty good, Especially Melendy Britt as the Wicked Queen and Arte Johnson's Brawny--who is quite kind despite his gruff exterior.

    Anyhow, here are the answers.
    1. "A Snow White Christmas" is basically a non-Disney sequel to the original story of Snow White.
    2. Obviously little Snow White shares the same name as her mother.
    3. When the wicked queen somehow thaws out of a block of ice she was encased in for years--she becomes a threat to both Snow Whites--especially the younger one who wishes to transform her (since) abandoned castle into a dream castle for the children of Noel to play in.
    4. Snow White and her friend Grunyon flee from the city of Noel after the Wicked Queen freezes everyone in the kingdom, including her parents to ice.
    5. Snow White's mother tells her to seek out the seven dwarves before she completely freezes.
    6. Instead, Snow White and Grunyon find their cousins the seven giants.

I've never seen this special, but it was the last couple of clues that helped me figure it out. Anyway, I have a Christmas character of my own.

I appeared once in a TV special.
I'm a wizard which is very unusual for my kind.
A man saved the life of my son.

    BTW- Happy Hanukkah Glowworm.

Again, I can't put my finger on it. This'll take research.

    Some more.

Now I owe this man a wish.
However, this wish is impossible to fulfill.
I forbid my son to help the others with this wish.

I think I got this one. It's Nostros the wizard elf from The Story of Santa Claus.

If I'm correct, please give my turn to someone else--I kind of wasn't expecting to get this one right, and so don't have a character in mind right now.

    Correct, it's Nostros.

    He is a wizard elf.
The man who is to become Santa saved his son.
    Nostros owe Santa a wish.
Of course Santa wishes for every child to receive a gift.
Nostros forbids his son to help the other elves.

Since Glowworm can't do the next character, I'll pass it to whoever post first.

Thanks, I've never seen this special, but have heard of it. The last three clues did it for me. Also thanks for understanding my busyness right now.

    Ok. Here I go again:

    1. I'm literally a larger than life character whose book series includes a Christmas story.

    2. My animated series aired on PBS, and spawned a really big movie.

    3. My late voice actor began his TV acting career playing a preacher on a Great Depression-era drama.

    It is, indeed, Saltyboot.

    1. Self-explanatory, plus there was a book called "Clifford's Christmas."

    2. Self-explanatory again.

    3. He was voiced by John Ritter, whose TV acting debut was on "The Waltons" as the town preacher, Reverend Fordwick.

BTW, these clues were a tribute to Clifford's creator, Norman Bridwell, who left us a week ago. RIP, Mr. Bridwell. :(

At any rate, you're up again, Salty. Take a bow. You've earned it.

    I have one...

    I'm an evil villain.
My companion is a real dummy.
    I live with robots.

Could this be Madame Gasket, the wicked mastermind behind the ouster of Bigweld from Blue Sky Studio's Robots? Her "husband" is always seen dangling from the rafters, so that he can't interfere with Gasket's plans, either intentionally or by mistake. And, of course, since this is Robotropolis, everybody is a robot.

I think I found the answer: Mom, from "Futurama." She builds robots, and that show has robots for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.

No, not Mom. Hopefully these next clues will do it.

My TV special is usually shown around Christmas time.
Although it's really a winter theme. It's not about Christmas.
    Snow ruined my plans.

Oh, I know this one now--This is Kubla Kraus from Rankin/Bass' Jack Frost.
    1. Kubla Kraus is the villain of this special.
    2. His companion is actually a ventriloquist dummy named Dommy--and yes he speaks through him.
    3. He has a bunch of robot knights that he commands--heck even his horse is robotic.
    4. Pretty obvious actually due to the winter theme.
    5. There is definitely a holiday gift giving scene/song in the special, as well as the beginning bit about the father hiding some money so he can buy presents. However, most of the story is winter themed.
    6. This is where I got it. Jack Frost uses his powers to attack Kubla Kraus who rules over January Junction and wants to marry Elisa--yeah, kidnapping her is a sure way to win her heart.
