    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Yeah, a lot of these characters I've been unfamilar with lately--or I've been too busy to thoroughly do research . Rocky and Bullwinkle happens to be one of my absolute favorites from my childhood.

    Anyhow, here we go.

    1. Believe it or not, I am the protagonist of this short.
    2. However, I don't stand a chance against the robber I seek to eliminate.
    3. I also have a lot of horse trouble.

No clues on this one. Maybe someone else will get it.

    More clues.

    4. The robber is not intimidated by me. In fact, when he first sees me, he can't stop laughing at my appearance.
    5. I can't recognize the robber without his mask, it's only at the very end of the short that I finally realize who he is.
    6. My horse won't listen to me, so I clobber him with a really big club.

Unfortunately, I can't say I ever saw this short. Someone else did, I'm sure.

Time to wrap this one up.

    7. Sure, this is a cartoon, but my horse still can't successfully jump over the Grand Canyon.
    8. The robber robs me--not with a gun, but with a magnet.
    9. Also, the robber doesn't steal money--he steals vegetables.

Yes. It's Red Hot Ryder from "Buckaroo Bugs." I'm actually surprised it took so long for someone to get it. I was certain he was an easy character to figure out.

Anyway, here are the answers to the clues.

    1. Surprisingly enough, Bugs Bunny is actually the antagonist in this short, although he still wins in the end. Red Hot Ryder is actually the "hero" in this picture.
    2. The Masked Marauder--the infamous carrot thief is none other than Bugs Bunny--and since Red Hot Ryder is dumber than a sack of dirt, who do you expect to win in the end?
    3. Red Hot Ryder has trouble getting his horse to stop. He also later has trouble distinguishing his horse from a hitching post.
    4. Bugs bursts into laughter when he first sees Red Hot Ryder and remarks that he's "A fugitive from the funny papers."
    5. Bugs appears to be "helping" Red Hot Ryder when he isn't wearing his bandit's mask. It's not until the end of the short that Red Hot Ryder finally realizes that his "buddy" was really the Masked Marauder.
    6. This is how Red gets his horse to "whoah."
    7. Self-explanatory really.
    8. Again, self-explanatory.
    9. "What he get, all the money from the bank?" "No, all the carrots from our victory garden."

Yeah, for some reason it took a while for the clues to click. Anyway, I won't be able to post a character till tomorrow.

    OK, here it goes.

    I fear a certain holiday.
One year, I was spared and actually had fun.
Until I was kidnapped and told that I had to go back in time.

Simple as pumpkin pie. It's Reggie the turkey, from "Free Birds."

    1. He's afraid of Thanksgiving.

    2. As per tradition, he was pardoned, and lived the good life, even eating pizza.

    3. Then he was kidnapped, and went to where it all began--1621.

Thanks, Saltyboot. Now here's another easy one:

    1. I think outside the box, or, in my case, the ball.

    2. When I shock my enemies, they go blasting off again!

    3. My balloon returns to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.

    Yeah, cute little mouse monster.
    Anyhow, I got one.
    1. I am a walking gag--literally, I am constantly walking by.
    2. I am advertising a restaurant.
    3. However, one of the main characters does not highly recommend it to anyone.

I know this one too. It's the bear from Jerky Turkey.

He walks around with an "Eat At Joe's" sign.
After seeing the pilgrim and turkey inside the bears stomach, the pilgrim holds a sign saying "Don't Eat At Joe's."

    Here's mine.

I had a very unsuccessful courtship.
The reason is because I'm not the one she falls for.
This short is based on a poem.
