    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Obviously, it's a Scottish Terrier. But the only one I can think of is Jock from "Lady And The Tramp," and I knoe there's no way it could be him.

Nope, it's not a Scottish Terrier, nor any dog character.

Ah, how foolish of me not to have thought of it. It's Nessie, from "The Ballad Of Nessie," right?"

Aye, that it is, me lassie!
    1. Nessie is the Loch Ness Monster. The Loch Ness of course, is in Scotland.
    2. Nessie loses her pond when the wealthy MacFroogle decides it's the perfect place for a miniature golf course.
    3. Nessie inadvertently solves her problem when she cries herself the perfect Loch for herself to inhabit.

Thanks, Glowworm. Now here's one I'll bet no one here was expecting:
    1. I'm the "kid sister" of the title character.

    2. I'm created for him, along with "parents" and other "siblings," just so he can have a family like an ordinary human kid.

3.. The man who built me and the others, but not the title character, has an incredibly large nose.

Glowworm, you nailed it! Uran/Astrogirl it is indeed.

    1. She's Astroboy's "kid sister," so to speak.

    2. She was created along with his "parents," "big brother" Jetto, and even a "baby brother," who wasn't in the American version, at least not to my knowledge.

    3. She and the rest of the "family," but not Astroboy himself, were built by Dr. Elefun, who had a very large nose.

You're up once again, Glowworm! Great job! :)

Yeah, never seen Astro Boy, but I've heard of him, and somehow knew he had a little "sister" robot.

    1. I am a cousin of a well known character.
    2. I look exactly like him.
    3. However, I have a severe musophobia

Guess Tom had a cousin that I've never seen. Unfortunately, I can't find him, so someone else must know.

EmeraldIsle has the character in everything but name. That character is George, visiting his cousin Thomas Cat in the 1957 Cinemascope cartoon "Timid Tabby." This is one of the few cartoons where Tom Cat bests Jerry Mouse. Convenient how the asylum for insane mice happens to right next door. o_O

Yes, Emeraldisle pinpointed the character, but Mr.Uglybunny gets the point for sure. It is indeed poor Cousin George who comes to visit Tom, voiced by none other than Bill Thomson--hence the Droopy-like voice.

Thank you, Glowworm. Tom Cat has to be one of my most favorite characters, perhaps besting even Bugs Bunny. I love how Tom, whether being nice or naughty, finds events going badly wrong, and runs an uphill fight to keep things from going horribly wrong.

Anyway, time for a new Mystery Character. :p

    1) This character has appeared in a regularly televised cartoon series.

    2) Although this character does not speak English, he appears to comprehend it well enough.

    3) Surprisingly, this character is often seen smiling, despite having the worst boss possible.

You got me on this one, OUB. Just can't think of any that match the clues.
I thought I had it, until I realized the one I was thinking of was never in an animated series.

Really? How surprising. Okay, time to ice this one:

    4) Much like Gadget Hackwrench, this character has a great mechanical aptitude, able to construct working vehicles out of junkyard scraps.

    5) One of this character's colleagues also rarely speaks English, though that colleague has no translator, while this particular character does.

    6) And much like Beetle Bailey from Mort Walker's comic strips, we have never seen this character's eyes.

Aha! I thought of the answer while riding to work today. It's Klunk, from "Dastardly And Muttley In Their Flying Machines!"

    1. He doesn't speak English. Instead, he "speaks" in unintelligilbe sounds.

    2. Yet he understands the language well enough.

    3. He keeps smiling, despite the fact that Dastardly is the worst boss ever.

    4. He does build aircraft out of junk.

    5. Zilly is his interpreter. Muttley only speaks strange words that amount to cussing, but has no interpreter.

    6. Klunk always wears goggles and has long bangs, so we never see his eyes.

Absolutely correct, EmeraldIsle, this is Klunk the mechanic from D&MITFM, a/k/a "Stop That Pigeon." I'd tell you that you're correct in Klunk-speak, but no known alphabet has invented enough vowels to cover it. Good memory, that'll add another +1. :)

Thanks, OUB. Now here's one I planned to post two years ago at this time, but never got the chance until now:

    1. I stand by my boyfriend when he's bullied by others of our species.

    2. However, I have a disapproving dad.

    3. Along with my guy's parents, I end up trapped in a cave by a fearsome giant who.....bounces!
