    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Actually, Jeu Dieu is pretty funny. Ok, back on topic.

Well at least it's better than one person on youtube who used to think it was Doo Doo. ;)

Yes, Oneuglybunny, you are correct. It is Sergeant Deux-Deux from the Depatie-Freleng Inspector shorts.
    Let's go over the clues.
    1. Sergeant Deux-Deux assists the Inspector in his missions--regardless of whether they suceed or not.
    2. I wouldn't call Deux-Deux the brains in the operation much like Baba Looey is to Quick Draw, but he certainly isn't a complete idiot either like Penfold is to Danger Mouse. In fact, I'd call the two an even match truthfully--although Deux-Deux did have his moments--in "The Pique Poquette of Paris" he douses the notorious Spider Pierre with DDT.
    3. A common running gag, Deux-Deux is Spanish, so he will always respond to the Inspector with "Si." The Inspector will then instruct him "Don't say si, say oui." Deux-Deux will then respond with "Si, I mean oui."

Poor Deux-Deux: stuck with an arrogant idiot boss. He likely knows better, but can't risk insubordination by speaking up or resisting. So, he goes along as the least-worst option. Maybe this won't hurt too much ...

Surprise and a half, here's a series that's gone untapped:

    1) This is the title character in a regularly televised cartoon series no longer in production. He has two companions at the outset; others are recruited afterward.

    2) This character has had a live action version. Two versions, in fact. But for this purpose, I'm sticking with the animated series.

    3) Newspaper comic strips are where this character began, rocketing to other media as his heroic popularity grew.

I have an idea, but I'd rather see if someone else has the same thought.

Well, guess I'll post the answer after all. It's Flash Gordon.

Okay, let's make a winner here:

    4) Despite his heroic role, this character is not part of the Justice League. No relation to any of member of the JL, either, despite his name.

    5) If captured, this character can expect no leniency from the villain. Obviously.

    6) Among his other accomplishments, this character caused the late Freddie Mercury to fanboy squee. Look it up ...

I think OUB may have missed Emeraldisle's answer when she amended her post - it now looks very much like Flash Gordon.

Actually, in the spirit of Fairness and Grace, EmeraldIsle deleted her answer, which was correct. Then it was reinstated in a subsequent post. My, how jiggled my poor head is.

Yes, this is Flash Gordon by Filmation Studios. Flash takes off in a rocket ship with Dale Arden and Hans Zarkov, aiming for planet Mongo to combat Ming the Merciless. He's no relation to The Flash, who came later. Freddie Mercury's group Queen recorded "Flash" for the later film adaptation.

Thanks for the heads-up, PeterHale, I would've missed that critical edit without it. EmeraldIsle, despite making me dizzy, gets another +1 and control of the board. ;)

Thanks, OUB, and sorry about that. Anyway, here's one for the next upcoming holiday:

    1. I'm a devoted housewife and mother of three.

    2. I sing part of my show's theme song.

    3. My series is considered the most mature one from my studio, and the "ancestor" of "Family Guy" and "American Dad."

Wonderful, and in keeping with the Mothers' Day spirit ...

    1) This character is a mother with one known child and a loving husband.

    2) Although not the title character, she is the very first one to appear in the animated feature film.

    3) This character's origin is in a work of literature, where she is known only by her title and surname.

I'll take a guess at it. Is it Bambi's mother?

Bambi's mother? Well, she does appear at the outset of Bambi, but what's her surname? Deer? Cervine? And that "regal" husband of hers never once comes anywhere near her that I recall. Um, no, it's not Bambi's mother, nice as she was.

Mrs. Arable from Charlotte's Web? Arable as in farmland, so I don't believe she has a title of any kind. However, this does meet all the other clues, so if Arable does have a title of some kind that escapes me, then this must count as a correct answer. However, without that title, then, no, it's not Mistress Arable.

Maybe some better clues will cement this lady's identity:

    4) Much like Bambi's mother, this character doesn't survive to the end of the story. She gets killed rather early on, in fact. And that's "killed," as in having the dear life ripped from her forcibly, pain and blood and terror and all that. Ouch.

    5) It's a fortunate thing for her tender young son that she sat for a photograph; otherwise, the title character would have no idea what she looked like.

    6) This character and her husband are definitely a long way from home, in every sense of the phrase. Junior, however, ends up making "home" wherever he happens to be.

I got it now, Lady Alice Greystroke from Disney's Tarzan. I only saw the film once but can easily remember that both she and her husband were killed by Sabor the leopardess. I also recall her photograph.
