    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Correct peterhale, it is Anne of Green Gables!

The series was based on the books.
She was adopted by an elderly brother/sister who lived on a farm.
A boy at her school always made fun of her red hair.

Interesting parallel that both Sullivan Entertainment and Nippon made a series based on Anne of Green Gables, and later followed it up with a prequel special.

Here is a character we haven't had yet...

    1) I am a daydreamer.
    2) In an educational short a duck was dressed as me to demonstrate a game.
    3) My little world is not quite the way I had pictured it!

Alice, it's Alice from Alice in Wonderland.
The 2nd clue refers to Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land.

    Bullseye, Glowworm!

The 3rd clue, in case anyone wonders, refers to the song she sings to Dinah in the Disney version, before she falls down the rabbit-hole - "In a World of my Own". In the film the last lines are: "I keep wishing it could be that way/because my world would be a wonderland." When I set the clue I was actually remembering the slightly different words on the published sheet music I used to have: "And if only things could be that way/My little world would be a Wonderland".

Another point scored, and the stage is yours!

Thank you. I actually watched Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land during a math class once. For the record, I hate math. :D

    Anyhow, here's one.
    1. I actually only appear during the very beginning of the film, through a narration.
    2. I also appear through an animated flashback in a direct to video midquel of the same film.
    3. Despite my short appearance what I've done has quite an impact on the entire plot.

The only one I can think of doesn't really match all the clues. I'll wait for the next set.

I'll take a punt - is it the nameless Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast?

Yes, Peterhale, it's the Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast.

    1. A narration through stained glass windows is the only time we see the Enchantress. (Although my boyfriend and I are certain we've seen her at the very end of the film among a crowd while Belle and her prince are dancing.)
    2. That would be The Enchanted Christmas. I don't plan on ever watching this film, but I do know that there is a flashback in which the Enchantress appears--this time through animation.
    3. The curse the Enchantress placed upon the prince effects the entire film of course.

I had quite forgotten that narrated pre-title sequence - it was only the fact that Enchanted Christmas is a 'midquel' that put me onto it! Good choice, Glow!

    Here's my next character...

    1) My Mommy overdid the vitains.

    2) In my second 'origin' short I get to have two Mommys!

    3) I share my name with a triplet.

    Right you are!

    1) In the first Baby Huey Noveltoon Quack-A-Doodle-Doo (1950) Mrs Duck is so anxious to 'hatch a batch' that she takes a whole jar of vitamins. The result is one enormous egg, which quickly hatches an enormous duckling.

    2) In 1953, after several Baby Huey shorts, Famous Studios decided to revisit his birth in Starting from Hatch. This time his mother has to leave the giant egg she is incubating, to run an errand. The fox discovers the egg, which hatches to reveal Baby Huey (this time complete with diaper and bonnet!) who assumes the fox is his mother. The fox plays along, while trying to find a way to kill Huey, but eventually runs off in despair, leaving Huey abandoned. When his real mother returns and comforts him he says to camera "I'm a luckiest duck in the world! I've got TWO mommies!"

    3) The triplets being Donald's nephews, of course.

    Ready when you are, Em!

Thanks, Pete. And I'm as ready as I'll ever be with these clues:

    1. My house is also a time machine.

    2. Along with three kids and my robot, I unexpectedly go back in time to a specific bygone era.

    3. While I keep trying to fix my machine, my time-traveling companions witness key events from the greatest story ever told.

Yes, Saltyboot, you got it. Professor Humphrey Bumble it is. Now for the clues:

    1. His house is a flying time machine.

    2. He, Justin, Angie, Corkey, and his robot SIR go back to the days of the New Testament when SIR goes haywire, and activates the time machine.

    3. While he tries fixing the time machine, the kids and SIR meet The Prince Of Peace and his apostles, witnessing everything from the Nativity to the Crucifixion and Resurrection, and some events after that, before finally returning to the 20th century.

So the board is yours again, Saltyboot. Great job. :)

Thanks! I haven't heard of this cartoon until now. Anyway...

I first appeared in comics, but I'm not the star.
Five years later, my kind appeared in animated form.
I didn't start to appear in cartoons until decades later.

It sounds a lot like a Smurf--although I'm not quite sure which one. Perhaps Smurfette?
