    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Way to go, Saltyboot! It is he for sure.

    1. He shoots arrows that make people fall in love.

    2. Hence, the Valentine's Day connection.

    3. He was mentioned in "Cupid," by Same Cooke, "That'll Be The Day," by Buddy Holly, "Stupid Cupid" by Connie Francis, and "Poison Arrow," by ABC.

Take it away, Saltyboot. Great job! :)

Here's one that is surprisingly not on the list.

One person was my voice for 50 years.
As popular as I am, I received only one Academy Award for best short.
I have a star on the Hollywook Walk of Fame.

I know this, but everyone else does, too, I'm sure. So I'll let another poster answer this time.

Yes, Bugs Bunny it is. I thought it was about time he was used.

Oh, me? Okay, let me tap into a worthwhile vein ... only used once so far, it'll do.

    1) This character has appeared only once so far in an animated feature film as the story's principal villain.

    2) Perhaps a case of "never too rich," this character is already the rightful ruler of one world, yet has designs upon the conquest of another world.

    3) The mad scheme of this character is thwarted by his young upstart nephew. Kids those days got no respect for age.

This one's a toughie. I'll leave it up to the others to supply the answer.

Is it Hades from Hercules, perhaps?

More than perhaps, this is absolutely Hades from Walt Disney Pictures adaption of the legendary Greek strongman. So far, Hades has appeared only in Hercules, plus a few bit appearances in the House of Mouse. Hades is already ruler of the underworld, but that place bores him, so he sets his sights on the conquest of Olympus. In the mythology, Zeus, Hades and Poseidon are brothers; therefore, any son of Zeus is a nephew to Hades.

Good to hear from you again, PeterHale. This is why I prefer to pluck characters from feature films: better known globally. :) Collect another worthy +1, and take control of the board, sir. :joyful:

    Here goes...

    1) I am a more aggressive antagonist than my predecessor.

    2) My first film also introduces my adversary's theme song.

    3) My name, like that of the star of my shorts, has a certain inevitability of choice!

    It is indeed!

    1) Wally Walrus, the first regular antagonist in the Woody Woodpecker theatrical cartoons, was usually a regular guy driven to distraction by Woody's tricks. Buzz was an out-and-out baddie (in his first appearance a conman who tricks Woody into insuring his life in Buzz's favour, in his second a wanted desperado with a murderous approach to sheriffs) who deserved all he got!

    2) Kay Kyser's 1948 recording of The Woody Woodpecker Song (written by George Tibbles and Ramey Idriss in 1947) was a big hit (obliging a reluctant Frank Sinatra to sing it three times during the summer on the Your Hit Parade radio show - click here for extract!) and Lantz was quick to capitalize by adding it to the cartoon then in production, Wet Blanket Policy.

    3) Woody Woodpecker, Wally Walrus... is there a pattern forming here?

Good sleuthing. Emeraldisle - the point and the stage are yours!

Thanks, Pete. Now for another simple one:

    1. Like the title character and several others, I play a most peculiar card game.

    2. I'm not exactly the nice girl from the block, but I do help out at times, and even have a crush on one of the protagonist's buddies.

    3. My name will definitely make you think of February 14.

This is clearly Mai Valentine from Yugioh. Thank you Abridged Series.

It most certainly is Mai Valentine.

    1. She, like Yugi, and most others, plays Duel Monsters.

    2. Unlike Tea and Serenity, she's rather mean at times, and has seduced more than just one boy. However, her biggest crush is on Joey Wheeler. And she saved them from bad guys occasionally.

    3. Very self-explanatory.

So now it's your turn, Glowworm. Good job, as always. :)

Yeah, my boyfriend used to watch the Abridged Series version around me. Hence my ability to recognize the character.
    Anyhow, here's one in return.

    1. I'm looking for love in all the wrong places.
    2. Following the instructions of an advice book isn't working out too well for me.
    3. Don't worry, I do find someone in the end who loves me.
