The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing.

I recalled seeing a teeny bit of the note scene once as a kid, probably before watching Looney Tunes or something else.
Anyhow, here's a fairly simple one.

1. I rock striped socks.
2. My face has never been seen.
3. I am the caretaker of some rather familiar toddlers.

I know this, but I leave the right answer to someone else.

This would be Nanny from Muppet Babies.

When I was found, I seemed cute and innocent.
But there is more to me than meets the eye.
I eat normal food for my species, but not in a normal way.

You got me good this time. Perhaps one of our fellow posters can figure it out.

Billy from "Billy Boy?"
1. He's certainly cute
2. Billy is really hungry.
3. Goats are know for eating weird stuff--although I highly doubt they eat like Billy.

Nope not billy boy, and not a goat.

I may have it now, but I still want to see if someone else knows.

I'm flat out of guesses right now, that's for sure.

I was found with a note that had my name on it.
My TV special is based on my first book.
However, I had abilities in the cartoon that I did not have in the books.

Well, I can rule out all the characters I thought of. So this will take a while to look for.

I have it now. It's Lyle The Crocodile.

1. He does look cute, lying there in the bathtub.

2. He's a big croc.

3. His favorite food is Turkish caviar.

4, The note was written by his owner, Signor Valenti.

5. The HBO animated special, "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile," is based on the character's first book, "The House On East 88th Street.'

6. I never saw the special, so I'm clueless about these abilities.

I'd like to expand on clue 3. It's not what he consumes, but how he consumes it.

Well, the only one left that I can think of is Paddington Bear, though I can't see how he fits the clues.

Not Paddington Bear. Here are the last three clues.

My name is similar to a certain famous blood sucker.
My name is also the title of my cartoon.
I am responsible for all the fruit turning white.

Ah, those last clues did it for me. It's Bunnicula, the vampire rabbit.

Correct, it is Bunnicula!

When he was found, he was in a shoe box with a note that had his name on it.
Like a regular bunny, he likes fruits and vegetables. But he sucks out the juices.
That's why the food is white.
In the cartoon, he telepathically moved some dogs away from him. He didn't have that ability in the book.
Bunnicula is named after Dracula.
