    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

This is Kehaar from Watership Down. Now while I have never seen nor read Watership Down, I do know that it is a rather dark story despite the fact that there are animals in it. I also know that the only spark of light in this dark tale is of the bird character who is voiced in the movie by Zero Mostel.

Spot on, Glowworm - Kehaar it is!

    1) As you say, voiced by Zero Mostel in the movie, and by Rik Mayall in the first two series of the subsequent TV series. As for the film's story, The British Board of Film Censors reported, in 2012: "While the film has a happy ending and contains many positive messages for young audiences about bravery, friendship and the environment, younger or more sensitive viewers have found some scenes upsetting or worrying. The BBFC has received complaints about the suitability of [the classification of] Watership Down at 'U' ['Universal' - the equivalent to 'G' in the US] almost every year since its classification."

    2) When Hazel, the leader of the rabbits, offers help to the injured gull, Kehaar squawks, "Piss off!"

    3) Author Richard Adams later wrote (in the introduction to the 2005 US edition) that the character of Kehaar was based on a Norwegian Resistance fighter he met during WWII.

Well done, Glow - your turn!

Thank you. Now here is one I've wanted to do for a while--although I haven't watched it in its entirety yet.

    1. Although I am not a Timelord, I have two hearts.
    2. I am also a crossdresser--but not in the way you're probably thinking.
    3. The crossdressing is necessary in order to prevent someone else from taking over the kingdom for the worse.

Got it! It's Mulan. the most amazing Disney heroine I've ever seen.

    1. Don't know about her having two hearts.

    2. She disguises herself as a male soldier.

    3. She does this to prevent the Huns from conquering China.

I don't have the slightest idea (this should be my catchphrase for this game!)

Even I'm coming up blank. The only characters with two hearts that I know are Charlie Barkin and Monster. Charlie's second heart is the watch that he stole from Heaven that marks when his time is up. Charlie cannot die a second time until that watch stops. But he's been Mysteried already. And Monster has nothing to do with a kingdom, though the Chairman's industrial empire might come close.

Some more clues are in order.

    4. I really do have two hearts of two different colors representing two different genders.
    5. I have two hearts thanks to a mischevious angel.
    6. Also, I am an anime--however, I am an early/ older anime.

I give up. I checked as much early anime as I could, and found nothing.

Yes, IronCookuru, it is Sapphire from Princess Knight of the anime and manga by Osamu Tezuka. I have both volumes of the manga--and the sequel--which never became an anime called The Twin Knights. Last year, my boyfriend gave me the first volume of the anime on DVD--although the episodes are out of order (although the show is easy to follow, and most of them stand on their own--while later ones with story line continuation are probably in order. ) The episodes are an edited version--which means that while I can still easily follow the plot of the episodes, certain parts are cut out--and I often have to compare it to a foreign dub to see what was left out.

    Anyhow, the clues:
    1. A little Doctor Who humor here--Timelords have two hearts. Sapphire happens to have two hearts.
    2. Sapphire's parents raised her as a prince instead of as a princess.
    3. Girls can't rule the kingdom, so the kingdom would go to the next in line, the wicked Duke Duralumon, who wants the kingdom for his son Plastic--who is not a very bright boy. This is why Sapphire is raised as a prince.
    4. One of her hearts is that of a boy--a blue heart, the other one is that of a girl--a red heart.
    5. According to the story, babies are preformed on heaven, and sent to Earth by ship--the babies are given their hearts--red for girls, blue for boys in advance. One little angel named Choppy (Tink in the manga) gives Sapphire a blue heart before she is officially given a red heart.
    6. The anime's original run was from 1967-1968.

In that case, I'll take the turn, and boy, have I got a good one:

    1. Of all the characters in the series, I'm the only one, aside from animals, who never says a word.

    2. I first enter the picture when a friend loses his voice.

    3. I eventually marry my guy, but naturally, he and I "say" "I do" nonverbally.

Yes, Fluidgirl, it is. Good job. :) Now for the clues:

    1. She's mute, as indicated by Papa Smurf.

2, She was first seen in the third season episode "Smurfing In Sign Language." She was called in to teach Poet sign language after Gargamel used a magic spell to remove his voice.

    3. In the special "Smurfily Ever After," she and fellow wood elf Woody were married, exchanging their vows in sign language.

    So you're up again.

OK, here's one of mein sister's favorites:

    1. I'm from the 1980's, so we're going back to the toy box once again

    2. I'm a bit vain

    3. My friends and I have alliterative appeal. Our names all begin with the same letter
