We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

OK, last three. Hopefully this will do it.

In another adventure, I help con an Emperor.
When I grew up, I wrote these adventures down in a book.
My movie was made by the same people who did shows like "Jack Frost," and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."

Oh, that "live action" part threw me for a loop. I'm thinking that this is Frosty the Snowman, as animated by Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass, and company. The cartoon named "Frosty the Snowman" has been tapped, but until now, not the character himself. :)

No, not Frosty. This is not a holiday/ winter type character.

Bonus clue: Pay extra attention to clue 4, "Garden of Paradise."

Ah! This is Chris, the young Hans Christian Andersen, from The Daydreamer (Rankin/Bass 1955).
The second clue had made me think of Thumbelina, but I never made the connection at the time.

    Yes peterhale, you're correct!

Chris runs away trying to find the Garden of Paradise his father talked about.
He becomes animated and went on adventures.
One of them he meets Thumbelina and another, he helped conned the Emperor in The Emperor's New Clothes.
Chris wrote these adventures down when he grew up.

Now here's a character that needs to go on the list to complete a triangle...

    1) I favour decapitation with a blunt instrument, but that isn't smart enough for my companion.
    2) I am told I can make a lot of money just hanging around.
    3) There's nothing in this place except bees - and I am not amused.

    It most certainly would!

    1) Br'er Bear: Les' jes' knock his head clean off.
Br'er Fox: Oh, no, indeed! Dere ain't nothin' smart 'bout dat!

    2) Br'er Rabbit, dangling from Br'er Fox's trap, tells Br'er Bear that he's earning a dollar a minute scaring crows, and persuades Br'er Bear to take his place.

    3) Br'er Bear: Now look, you said dis was a laffin' place... an' I ain't laffin'.
Br'er Rabbit: I didn't say it was yo' laffin' place - I said it was my laffin' place, B'rer Bear.

    Over to you, Saltyboot!

Ok, sorry it took so long. I had a lot going on.

I appeared once in a theatrical short.
My cartoon is based on a song.
I get in a fight with a Russian.

Could this be the Russian wolf hound from the 1944 Bugs Bunny cartoon Hare Ribbin'?

Yep just as I thought--but I needed to look up the short--it's Abdul the Bulbul Ameer--that's not an easy name that rolls off the tongue. I myself have never seen the short in question--just know of it through constant posts here.

Thanks--somehow that clue about the character getting into a fight with a Russian did the trick--along with the song hint.

    Anyhow here's one.
    1. I am addressed by name by my buddy--but he doesn't have one.
    2. We are attempting to eat each other.
    3. There's also a bunny rabbit who pops up in the beginning and the end of this short that we fight over.

Not so tough if you know the film...
It's Joe the buzzard from Tex Avery's What's Buzzin' Buzzard? (MGM 1943). The Jimmy-Durante-impression buzzard calls him 'Joe' throughout - I think it references Palooka (the 1934 film, later released as The Great Schnozzle) with Joe Buzzard being an impression of Stuart Irwin as Joe Palooka.

Yes--yes it is Joe from "What's Buzzin' Buzzard. I always did wonder who "Joe" was suppose to be.
Also, this short left me pretty disturbed as a 5 year old--my father had gone outside to the backyard to read and I was left alone watching a cartoon where two buzzards are graphically trying to eat each other.
