    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

Yes, it is Wirt--from Over the Garden Wall--I actually did not have Greg in mind for this one.
    1. Wirt and his brother are lost in the woods.
    2. It turns out that the woods that they are in may be some sort of purgatory as their lives are on the line.
    3. Yes, this is a 10 part mini series.

I recently watched this with my boyfriend and it is really amazing.

    Next character.

I appear once in a short.
    I'm very much a bully.
After I die, you see what happens with my soul.

I'm afraid this one calls for a lot of research.

Oh, the Big Bad Wolf from Freleng's The Three Little Bops, who tried to horn in on their jam session. After the fool blew himself up, he went "down below" where his trumpet playing improved. Remarked one pig, "You gotta get real hot to play real cool." :)

That's a really good guess, but no it's not the Big Bad Wolf.

    Three more.

I'm a movie star from the early days.
I work with dogs, but it's their trainer that I'm having trouble with.
The short takes place in a movie theater. Complete with an organ pit.

Well, I did find a short full of animated Hollywood stars, but none of them match these clues.

Just to clarify clue 4, the character is a fictional star. Not a parody of a real person.

Alright, I could only come up with two more clues. Hopefully these will do it.

This stop motion short won a BAFTA award in 1998.
The studio that did this short also did the Wallace & Gromit films.

Well, now. It's Mr. Hugh, from "Stage Fright." This is another one I never heard of before.

Yep, that is correct. It's Mr. Hugh.

In the short, he is a movie star and a bully.
Mr. Hugh is mean to the dog trainer when things don't go his way.
After he dies, his soul stands up and walks to a ghostly organ and he goes down into the pit.

    Take it away.

Thanks, Salty. Now here's one that's a piece of cake:

    1. I'm pursued by the protagonist, even though I'm not actually alive.

    2. He goes after others who are chasing me.

    3. Ah, but when he finally kisses me, he literally gets the shock of his life--twice!

Dreamboat--the electric rabbit lure Bugs gets the hots for from "Greyhounded Hare"
My dad and I always got a kick out of the puns when the announcer announces the dogs. My all time favorite? "Grandpa's Folly is out of it. He's being scratched." It then cuts to a dog literally scratching himself.

    Thanks.
    1. I am lonely, so another of my kind is brought over to keep me company.
    2. I am instantly smitten, but he is not, and keeps trying to escape.
    3. I want him to kiss me--but he uses a goldfish and a fan instead.

Oh my, that Millicent is the poster child for blind date nightmares. Good pick.

    1) This character has appeared many times in various media, because he's now a Public Domain character. For this purpose, I'm calling upon a regularly televised animated series, though he began life as a character in a book.

    2) This character is challenged to do something that had never been done before, and he accepts the challenge. In the book, it was a speculative wager among a group of guys at a social club; the animated series adds a Love Interest as the motivation.

    3) You think Batman comes Crazy Prepared when tangling with villains? This character must've been a script writer on his own show; how else could he bring exactly what's needed to surmount some bizarre obstacles?
