    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, ongoing-ier.

Yes, Dave had to move to a new server. I think your right OUB about the recent posts not being duplicated (a.k.a. A "hiccup").

Ok, thanks Em. I've got one up my sleeve.

    1. I started my career in the funny papers
    2. I've starred in two different cartoon series
    3. I share many traits with another funny-paper feline, though I came a good five years before he did.

I know this one well, but I'm willing to let someone else guess.

Ok, I give. It's Heathcliff. He's the only cat who matches the clues.

    Correct, Em. It's Heathcliff

    1. Heathcliff originated as a comic strip character
    2. Heathcliff starred in two different cartoon series: "Heathcliff and Dingbat" (and the second season was known as "Heathcliff and Marmaduke") in 1980, and "Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats" in 1984
    3. Heathcliff shares several traits with fellow-funny-paper-feline Garfield: they're both orange with black stripes, they're both tubby tabbies. However, Heathcliff debut in 1973, while Garfield came later in 1978.

And here are my latest clues:

    1. We're a short-lived couple, at least in terms of our animated shorts.

    2. One of us is shorter than the other, and our real first names were never revealed.

    3. We're modeled after a live action couple whose name sounds like something used for making tea.

Actually, the characters' names were simply Maw and Paw, but I'll credit you with the right answer. But just to clear things up:

    1. Their cartoon series was short-lived.

    2. Maw's shorter than Paw.

    3. They were modeled after Ma and Pa Kettle, played in live action films by Percy Kilbride, and Marjorie Main.

So good job, Glowworm. Take another turn. :)

Thanks, since I don't know much about the characters, other than the fact that the live action versions had animated doppelgangers--and of course that they are hillbillies, I naturally mixed up the live action names but meant the animated ones.

Anyhow, I was actually hoping to get the next turn because I have a character all picked out.

    1. I am a one shot character on an animated tv series.
    2. This is my own episode, the usual main characters are not a part of it--although they do introduce my short.
    3. I was originally intended to be a puppet show character, but that fell through.

    Some more clues.

    4. I am the son of a Brontosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
    5. I am a sea creature, much like one of the main characters of the tv series.
    6. My tale is sung as a folk song.

Well, I looked, but didn't find. So maybe someone else can look where I did, and find the character.

Could this be Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent, originally a sock puppet character for the children's morning show Time For Beany? I know that Robert Clampett, one of Warner Brothers' senior animators, adapted the boy-with-friendly-monster premise into an animated series.

Indeed, oneuglybunny, you are very close. As I mentioned in the clues, the character is a one shot, which Cecil certainly isn't, and was intended to be a puppet show character, but never became one--unlike Cecil who started out as one.

However, you nailed what show the character is from-- Beany and Cecil. Now all you have to do is find the character.

    Wrapping this one up.

    7. I am the last episode of the series.
    8. My name is spelt rather unusually.
    9. I am a mudpie slinging, mischief making sea creature.

Unfortunately, I still don't have it. Hate to admit it, but looking back on it now, I never saw "Beany And Cecil" all the way through.
