    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

Thanks, Glowworm. Now for this one:

    1. I've been seen not only in the original series, but also a handful of half hour specials, including one devoted to Easter.

    2. I share my name with a giant felled by a young boy, not to mention another dog who becomes a....lion!

    3. I begin most of my sentences with "I don't know,...."

    Last three clues:

    4. My owner was named after the biblical hero who struck down my namesake.

    5. Officially, my series was the first animated series with religious themes.

    6. Oddly, my creator also created an iconic clay boy.

The iconic clay boy is Gumby, the creation of stop-motion pioneer Art Clokey. His debut work is known as "Gumbasia" and it lays the groundwork for his later productions, one of which is the Christian-themed Davey And Goliath. Davey is the normal school-age boy growing up in a nuclear household (no missing Mom or disappeared Dad!), and Goliath is Davey's dog and morality pet. Goliath seems to know right from wrong better than Davey, so when Davey starts going off the rails, Goliath's "I dunno, Davey" acts as a warning signal.

Yes, OUB, Goliath it most certainly is. Good job. :). You may post again, as I need to be off today for a good reason.

Oh goody, it's Fixing Time. Somehow, this character's cohorts got on the List, but not yet for him. Not no more!

    1) This character appears in at least two animated series, all by the same studio. He's a stock character, sometimes with minor design tweaks, called up when a foil is needed.

    2) This character is a scoundrel with very few scruples. The only reason he's not a full-on villain is that his boss has that role. Always a bigger fish.

    3) As a land-based fellow, this character had only his Bad Boss to worry about. Once in the air, he gained two more incorrigible goofballs as allies.

Oops, I let this one slide. Back to the repairs...

    4) In both series, this character is the shortest of the bunch. He's definitely less than half the height of his mean boss.

5a) In the first series, there's a mix of humans and non-humans, with humans in the majority, and this character in the minority.

5b) In the second series, this character is one of two non-humans among five core characters.

    6) The mean boss often has to remind this character that he's being paid to achieve results, not lollygag and spectate.

Precisely, this is Dick Dastardly's incorrigible sidekick Muttley, from Wacky Races and Dastardly And Muttley In Their Flying Machines. Every so often, Dastardly has remind him, "Muttley! Do something!"

Thanks, OUB. Now for another untapped one:

    1. I get to be the hero, even though I'm blind.

    2. Unlike most heroic males, I don't like the girl at first.

    3. I have to rescue her from the man who stole the enchanted sword.

Oooh, I almost know who this is; I can't recall his name out of my cobwebby head, but I know exactly which feature-length animation you're tapping. I'll shut up for awhile so some nice, normal people can respond.

    Three more clues:

    4. I began my career as a stable boy.

    5. As if the evil knights weren't bad enough, my other adversaries include a griffin, an ogre, and a... chicken!

    6. My unlikely ally is a two-headed dragon.

So, it appears it's up to me. This is Garrett, the hermit living in the Enchanted Forest. He meets Kayley there while she's being pursued by the villain's mooks. From Warner Brothers' feature animation Quest For Camelot.

Oops, I'm going senile in my retirement. Now that I'm awake ...

    1) This character occurs in an regularly televised animated series that's no longer in production, just reruns. The studio that produced the toons remains extant.

    2) This character is rather difficult to like, being a know-it-all, a braggart, a trickster, and ergophobic. Nonetheless, he has some admirers and proves useful on occasion.

    3) If you're thinking is running toward Foghorn Leghorn, then you're aiming at the right species, but the wrong studio. It's not Warner Brothers.

    Intermediate clues time.

    4) The animated series has one title while it airs in the United States, and an alternate title for Canada or Mexico or South America.

    5) Alliteration is in play with this character's name, just like with Dick Dastardly or Penelope Pitstop or Mighty Mouse.

    6) Aside from rarely admitting when he's wrong, this character is also unlikeable for being essentially a living alarm clock.

    Cupcake clues time.

    7) Debuted September of 1988, running until December of 1994.

    8) Created by Jim Davis, whose most widely known work is the daily comic strip Garfield.

    9) Produced by Film Roman.

Yes, this is Roy Rooster from U. S. Acres (Orson's Farm outside the United States), part of the Garfield And Friends package show. A nod to this game's first Mystery Character: Orson Pig. Good of you to keep Roy out of the Forgotten Sea, Em. :)

Thanks, OUB. Now for one who's been overlooked:

    1. I work closely with four others.

    2. I probably have the most useful superpower of all.

    3. Whenever there's trouble, I go for a spin.

    Three more clues:

    4. I live a city that's not to be confused with a similar sounding one in Connecticut.

    5. My creator went on to produce some of the most controversial animated films of all time.

    6. My crimefighting partners get by on superhuman strength, roping skills, a baby bottle, and flying like a cuckoo bird.
