    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

Nope, no more unguessed characters, unless it's a new participant seeking the first panel-stumper. This is Marge Huddles, from the short-lived Where's Huddles by Hanna-Barbera Studios. Marge's personality is modeled upon that of Wilma Flintstone, and both characters are voiced by Jean Vanderpyl. The Huddles' detractor is Claude Pertwee, a snipish, camp-gay neighbor voiced by Paul Lynde. "Sav. a. ges."

Yes, OUB, you scored a touchdown with that answer. So it's your turn again. Good job. :)

Cool. :) And here I go, diving deep into villain territory again. I must be a bad boy.

    1) This character has appeared in two animated feature films, the debut film and its sequel.

    2) This character is the supreme baddie in the first feature, while he's in a much reduced role in the second.

    3) Playing fair again: this character is not human. He stands upright, hires henchmen, operates machinery, and interacts with humans, including battling The Hero, but not human. Too furry for that.

Whoopsie, more and better clues are needed, methinks.

    4) Like many Disney animated features, the story is derived from folk tales, with lots of artistic liberties taken. In fact, this character isn't anywhere in the original story; he's a Canon Foreigner. :android:

    5) Did I say Disney? Shame on me, because Disney had nothing to do with this animated feature. Nor did Warner Brothers, surprisingly. :stop:

    6) There's a trope called "Beware The Cute Ones," about characters that seem sweet and innocent, but really aren't. Darla Dimple, for one; Experiment 626 for another. Lump this character in with that bunch. :nailbiting:

Ok, I'm going to say this is Puss In Boots.

Oooh, wow, so very close. Yes, Puss is hired to take out the hero in Shrek 2, but that would make him at most an Elite Mook, not the Supreme Baddie. However, Salty did nail the cuteness angle, props for that. This has to be a Union Card-carrying Villain that looks so cute and fluffy. Still, that line of thinking that fielded Puss is mighty close. :)

I thought so, I just needed that second set of clues to seal the deal. This is Boingo the Bunny from Hoodwinked and Hoodwinked Too!--Hood Vs. Evil.

Glowworm thought so, and thunk correctly, too. This is Boingo the bunny from Kanbar Animation's Hoodwinked and Hoodwinked Too. That earns GW a fresh +1, and my applause. :D

    Thanks.
    1. I am the female partner in crime to an Eastern European spy.
    2. I'm the one with slightly more common sense.
    3. Usually at the end of most of the storylines, my partner will say a specific catchphrase to me--in one of them however, I get to say it to him.

Yep, Natasha Fatale, partner in crime to Boris Badenov. The last clue basically refers to this running gag in which by the end of the storyline--although sometimes it occurs sooner, Boris tells Natasha to "Shut up your mouth!" However, at the end of "The Treasure of Monte Zoom" Natasha tells Boris to "Shut up your mouth!"

Thanks, Glowworm. Now here's one I've wanted to post for a long, long, time:

    1. Unlike most pets of my kind, I can think outside the bowl.

    2. I have no name in the original book, but get one for the animated special.

    3. At first, I'm infuriated with the title character's antics, but eventually join in when he sings a song about himself and his head gear.

These last three clues should clinch it. If not, I'll reveal the answer.

    4. My name is spelled with a K rather than a C.

    5. My animated special is now 45 years old.

    6. I reveal that I know what the protagonist is called in Russian.

Well, I cheat ... er, researched the answer: it's Norval the Fish, credited as Karlos K. Krinklebine from the animated adaptation of Theodore "Doctor Seuss" Geisel's The Cat In The Hat. "Fish cartoon 1971" run through Yahoo got the character straightaway. :)

"A cat hat"? You skin cats for a living? :nailbiting: Just kidding, :troll: I'll take the point and tap into a female vein. :D

    1) This character occurs in a regularly televised animated series that's no longer in production. Aired an episode once per week, usually.

    2) No superpowers for this character, unless you count invulnerability to her abrasive husband.

    3) Technically, this character is not human. She got married, raises kids, lives in a house, speaks English: does everything a Disney wife and mother would do, except she's not Disney and not human.

Yow, if I neglect this any longer, it'll grow dandelions.

    4) This character is modeled roughly after the #2 character on a live-action television series. In fact, the cartoon's premise is a close parallel to that same live program.

    5) Hanna-Barbera's Irma Boyle has already been tapped as a Mystery Character. This character hews closely to that mold, but with a much longer profile and lots more body hair.

    6) She has three offspring: a daughter, a son, and another son. Of course, that's presuming their Intro Song names them in birth order.

Well, as the Stones said, "Dandelion don't tell no lies." And neither do I. It's Agnes Barkley, from "The Barkleys."

"Arnie Barkley is the head of the Barkley house. / Agnes Barkley is his devoted and loving spouse. / They've got kids: Terry, Roger and Chester, too. / And all of them are Barkleys, through and through."

Verily, this is Agnes Barkley, from The Barkleys, produced by DePatie-Freleng, a cartoon counterpart to the Seventies staple All In The Family. That's good for a fresh +1, EI. :D Splendid quote, by the way, très apropos.
