    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

The Mystery Cartoon Character Game, now with 20% more ongoing.

Thanks, Glowworm. Now to take a little breather from the usual October stuff, and post this one:

    1. I'm brought home as a pet, much to the disapproval of the wife and the other canine.

    2. I spend much of the short trying to determine exactly what breed I am.

    3. In the end, my name is changed when I become...no spoilers!

I know this one, but am going to sit out unless I have to take it.

Well, it's hard to come up with three more clues for this one, but here I go:

    4. My short is now 60 years old.

    5. Unlike most characters from my studio, I'm never seen again after this cartoon.

    6. Some people mistake me for a similar character from the studio, who was around a bit longer, and often hung out with a pig.

    I'll take this one.
    It's Robert(a) from "Mixed Master"
Robert was a dog brought home to be a playmate for a Pekingese named Chang but they don't get along. After trying to figure out what kind of dog Robert is, it is finally discovered that Robert is a mother.

    1. With the head butler going away for a few days with the master, my identical twin brother calls on me to help him watch the mansion.
    2. I take my instructions of "no strangers" on the premises very seriously.
    3. While my brother and I are exactly alike, the key difference is that I'm very strong despite being a little guy.

It's Drippy, the twin brother of Droopy. From the short, Droopy's Double Trouble.

    Ok, I got one.

I appeared in a movie, but was not originally in the book.
I am a wife, mother, and second in command.
My husband is a pompous old windbag.

    Three more.

Pachyderms are suppose to remember everything.
However, my husband forgot one very important item.
I usually march in the back, but sometimes I need to move out of ranks.

Well, I knew the answer from the first set of clues. It's Winifred, from "The Jungle Book."

Yes, that is right. She is married to Hathi, and they have a son who he forgot about while continuing to march after their stop.

    You're up.

Thanks, Salty. Now I've got a special one:

    1. I've never been animated before, but will become a cartoon character tomorrow night.

    2. I'll be on the longest running animated series when the family visits Boston.

    3. I play football there, though I was suspended over a deflated ball.

Well, there's no way I can post more clues, so I'll just give the answer, at the risk of a backlash. It's Tom Brady.

    1. Last night marked his animated debut.

    2. Like many other real life celebrities, he guested on "The Simpsons."

    3. Self-explanatory.

Since I'm now too ashamed of myself to post another character, I pass the next turn to anyone who wants it.

I had a feeling it was Tom Brady, but couldn't figure out which show he was on.
Also, this actually wasn't Tom Brady's first animated debut. He voiced his animated self on Family Guy in the episode "Patriot Games."

Well, it's been more than 48 hours, so I guess I'll post another one, and try to make it as easy as possible.

    1. I'm the title character of a play that's rarely performed due to its supernatural themes-witches and ghosts play key roles.

    2. Like all others created by the author, I was animated for an anthology series.

    3. My wife has a severe case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Way back in the Gossamer days, I once asked if anything by William Shakespeare had ever been animated, and was told that, yes, some of his works were adapted into animated form, by the BBC, of course. Actually, ghosts and witches are common in Shakespeare's works; in Hamlet, his father's ghost motivates Hamlet to sunder his uncle, while in Richard III, witches foretell of the intrigues and undercurrents in the royal court. However, it's MacBeth's witches that portend just how twisted and corrupt the title character can be, with his wife as a doozy of an enabler.

I'm going with MacBeth from Shakespeare, The Animated Tales.

Ball's in my court? Okay, let's hope I don't eat it.

    1) This character appears in a regularly televised animated cartoon that's still in production.

    2) This character fills The Mother role among her "nuclear family:" she's wife to a husband, and mother to a son, a daughter and an infant. Every one of them gets camera time.

    3) Once upon a time, this character would have been her town's Queen Bee. However, Society Marches On, and her identifier has lost its significance.
