    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

They did all right with what they had. :) And now that we've had a lovely show, it's time for a commercial jingle.

    "Crumbly Crunchies are the best,
    "Look delicious on your vest,
    "Serve them to unwanted guests,

"Stuff the mattress with the rest."

This is from Haredevil Hare, where Bugs is trying to radio for help and got an advert instead.

BTW, it always sounded like Munchie Crunchies to me.

That's where the quote comes from, for sure. And when I looked up the quote, I found both "Crumbly Crunchies" and "Munchy Crunchies" in about equal proportion. That first syllable is badly garbled when Bugs Bunny first tunes in that jingle, so unless there's a script copy from Termite Terrace to ice this one, I went with the first listing: Crumbly Crunchies. Answer me this, though: who'd actually buy this stuff?

Anyone who needs to stuff their mattress, or decorate their vest would buy that stuff.
    Anyway...

"I'll meet you over at the church."
    "It's a synagogue, Chanukah boy!"

This quote comes from a 1996 TV special about toddlers.

Ah, just found it. It's Stu and Grandpa Lou, from the "Rugrats" episode "A Rugrats' Chanukah."

That's right. Stu calls out to everyone about meeting them at the "church," and Grandpa Lou corrected him on that.

Thanks, Salty. Now for one from an untapped special:

"Well, here I am reading 'War And Peace.' and everyone else is at dance class having fun. Maybe I should go over to the class, and just look in, and see what they're all doing."

Well, I know this one but I'm going to wait a little longer to see if someone else does.

This sounds suspiciously like Charlie Brown from The Peanuts Movie, who needed Snoopy or somebody to teach him how to dance, so that he can get acquainted with the Little Red-Haired Girl. (What is up with redheads, anyway?) I know that Leo Tolstoy's War And Peace is a recurring gag among Charles Schulz's characters. The quote definitely has his junior-grade angst in it.

Well, you were close enough. The quote's actually from "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown." Still, I'll give you credit for getting the character right. Good job. :).

Ooh, how very topical. :) And how nice to get that leeway. Okay, I'll tap into one of your faves, Em.

"All the world will be your enemy, Prince With A Thousand Enemies; and when they catch you, they will kill you."

Didn't think I'd need to hint, but okay. Most of the characters in this story travel overland; the character that speaks this line glides across the sky.

Ah, got it. It must be Kehaar, the seagull, from "Watership Down."

Ooh, right work, wrong character. But since you let me slide, I'll blind-eye this one. The quote does indeed come from Nepenthe Productions' Watership Down, though it's Frith the sun that says this to the Prince of Rabbits.

Thanks, OUB. Now, regrettably, I just have to post this quote:

    "I'm done for, Wilbur."

Oh, Wilbur the pig from Charlotte's Web, as animated by Hanna-Barbera Studios. The only character other than Wilbur facing doom is Charlotte Cavatica the spider, since she has exhausted herself laying her clutch of eggs.

Yes, OUB. It's Charlotte. Good job. :). The reason I posted this quote is pretty obvious. RIP, Deb. :(

Really, such an awful fluke. Fate is cruel. :(

Perhaps a cheerier quote might help.

"If you make the most of what you're got, then you won't need what you have not."
