You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

rescue_rangers.png Disney is moving ahead with a live-action movie based on the animated series Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers according to the Hollywood Reporter. The original series, which ran 65 episodes in 1989–1990, was produced by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove. The new movie is to be a hybrid live-action film with animated characters, and will be produced through Mandeville Films.
Mandeville Films is an in-house Disney production company, and has previously produced Muppets Most Wanted. Director Robert Rugan is pushing this project as a live-action/cg animation project akin to the recent Scooby-Doo or Smurf films.

Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers was one of Disney’s first self-produced animated television series. In the series, Chip and Dale start their own detective agency. The chipmunks stock in trade are crimes “too small” for the police to deal with. The serious-minded Chip and daffy Dale are assisted by young mouse pilot and inventor Gadget, mouse Monterey Jack, and Zipper the Fly in their battle against injustice.

No release date has yet been set.

Hmm, I must wonder where this film's demographic lies. If Rugan is aiming for the nostalgia market, he's waited twenty-five years for the grade-schoolers to grow up and get jobs. This makes the audience early to mid-thirties: yuppies. Problem is, will these yuppies be willing to reconnect with their puppy days? A substantial percentage won't be caught dead watching a "kiddie" movie. However, the grade school crowd that was this cartoon's original audience hasn't really seen Chip or Dale; the chipmunks have almost vanished from public view for twenty-four years. There'll be a lot of wondering, "Who are Chip and Dale? Do they matter?"

Pardon my pessimism, but Disney is pulling the trigger on this project way too late. Plus, this will resurrect the putrid piles of porn that had been quietly been dying down due to obsolescence. If anyone wants a reading on how well this project will fare, look no further than the Smurf movies.

Some Disney exec: Dey tell me dat Fox are making a fourth Alvin an' da Chipmunks movie! We shoulda bin makin' dat franchise!
Some Disney underling: I believe we do own some chipmunks, sir...

All kidding aside, I suppose that fans of the original Rescue Rangers might have little kids of their own by now, so could be the right demographic after all?

I'm not sure how this is going to turn out. I mean, Disney's doing it, but still...

And yet, everyone else ignored the news about the Oscar winners! Does nobody care about them anymore here? *scratches head*

OK, let's get back on topic in five, four, three, two, now...

I do hope at least we get the actual voices from the cartoon: Tress MacNeille as Chip and Gadget, and Corey Burton as Dale (I was especially impressed that Tress MacNeille voiced Chip!)
