    Other Side Of Maleficent

    I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Funnyman Will Ferrell and partner Adam McKay are working on bringing back everyone’s favorite stone-age family. The duo’s production company Gary Sanchez Productions is in development on a new Flintstones animated feature.

    Disney To Feast In France

    The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    It may look like something from "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame," but the cathedral's roof is currently on fire just like it was during the climax of the animated Disney feature.

    And the steeple collapsed inward, wrecking whatever was left of the roof. Not quite a total loss, but close. From all the scaffolding in place at the time, suspicion falls on construction monkeys hired to shore up the decaying buttresses. It took eleven years for the United States to rebuild the Freedom Tower; let's see if France can best that mark with Notre Dame Cathedral.

    The President of France want's the Cathedral rebuilt in 5 years. We'll see how that goes.

    Funding won't be a problem: French commerce magnates have pledged nearly one billion euros toward Notre Dame's rebuilding fund. This is expected to include acid rain proofing on the flying buttresses, as well as specialized stone carving to replace wood and plaster placeholders in the damaged facade. This will take time, however, since the chapel is normally used for Mass, and scaffolding is all but prohibited in the interior. Let us hope they do not hire cheapjack monkeys for this project.

    Hopefully, there's enough YouTube (and other) footage out there for references, etc. First things first, though. The need to get some temporary roofing up to keep out further weather damage. Then they can start to work.
