    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

Quite possibly the best news of last week for me, Kino and MGM will be releasing the United Artists DePatie-Freleng cartoons on DVD and Blu-ray(!!!) some of which have never been before available on either format!!!:

The Pink Panther Show DVD news: Announcement for Kino Lorber Cartoon Volumes | TVShowsOnDVD.com

Expect The Ant and The Aardvark, The Inspector, and for the first time on DVD/Blu-ray, Crazy Legs Crane November 24th!!! :D

The Pink Panther cartoons were not part of the deal, as Kino said on Facebook "MGM has plans for those." ;)

Oh, that makes me so happy. I remember back in 2009, there was a huge Pink Panther DVD collection--it even had a disc full of the complete Roland and Rattfink shorts--but the entire thing was rather expensive--and there was no way to get the Roland and Rattfink disc separately. Also, I'm pleased to know that they'll put out all the Inspector shorts--I only have one volume of them--and they never put the second one out separately( it was also packaged with the huge Pink Panther DVD collection.)

I hope Pink Panther & Sons is part of a future DVD set. That was a pretty good show, it's too bad it didn't get the respect it deserved..

I think I have that collection: five discs in a roll-fold case, right? Which makes me wonder something. Now, Walter Lantz's Woody Woodpecker had that white horse named Sugarfoot. The Pink Panther also had to deal with a white horse once or twice. Did that recalcitrant horse have a name? Probably not, since Big Nose went unnamed for the longest time.

The collection I mentioned is actually a 9 disc set--5 are Pink Panther discs, 2 are The Inspector, one is the Ant and the Aardvark, and one is Roland and Rattfink. The one you mentioned was around before this one, which came out in 2009.
As for the horse, I don't think it actually had a name--In fact I think they simply called it "Horse" in Pink Panther and Pals--the series where Pink is reintroduced as a teenager.

And the dog that had appeared in "Slink Pink" and other theatrical shorts was called "Dog" in "Pink Panther and Pals".

But the little man did have a name before "Pink Panther and Pals"-Friz. (Obviously an in-joke.)

That stubborn horse also turned up in "Daffy Flies North". Different color, but same character design, same laugh, and even some of the same gags from "Pinto Pink".

Some great news on the DFE cartoon releases from Mark Arnold himself (who's birthday is today!); no laugh tracks on any of the shorts except for Crazy Legs Crane and Misterjaw (which is clearly understandable). All shorts will also be in their original full screen formats!

The release date for Inspector, The Ant and The Aardvark, and Crazy Legs Crane is April 8th, 2016 by the way.

Mark Arnold posted this in the Think Pink: DePatie-Freleng Group:

"I received the assignment yesterday to record some audio DVD/Blu-ray commentaries about some dog, some shark and some other character with the initials P.P."

Now we know The Dogfather and Misterjaw are the last cartoon series to be released in the DePatie/Freleng Collection from Kino/MGM, but if the last means anything, we could be seeing the Pink Panther cartoons again!!!

    Also, the Blu-ray.com reviews for

    The Blue Racer:
    The Blue Racer Blu-ray

    Hoot Kloot:
    Sheriff Hoot Kloot Blu-ray
