What A Sad, Sad Feeling.

We have lost yet another icon. Singer and actress Irene Cara has died at age 63.

She began her career as a member of The Short Circus on The Electric Company. This group of five kids sang songs about punctuation and grammar for the most part.

In 1980, she landed the role of Coco in the movie Fame, for which she also had her first Top 40 hit with the theme song. She reprised the role in the TV version. Another single from the film was "Out Here On My Own."

She hit #1 three years later with the theme song from Flashdance, "Flashdance...What A Feeling." That same year, she appeared in the movie D. C. Cab with Mr. T, and had two more singles, "Why Me" and "The Dream."

Her last hit came in 1984, "Breakdancing," which capitalized on the craze.

RIP, Ms. Cara. As you said in the Fame theme song, you're gonna live forever.
