You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

There are tons of catoons not currently shown on CN: most toons from the previously AAP package aren't shown, plus (Bugs): Hare Do (smoking), Gorilla My Dreams, Feather in his Hare, Mississippi Hare, Rabbit Punch, A Lad in his Lamp, Which is Witch (one of the 12 missing hares), Homeless Hare, Big House Bunny, What's Up Doc (many dated references), Bushy Hare (again, 12 missing..), Operation: Rabbit (can't figure out why), Southern Fried Rabbit, Yankee Doodle Bugs, Beanstalk Bunny (they don't show any of these beanstalk cartoons), Knight Mare Hare (smoking), Bugs Bonnets, Ali Baba Bunny, Pikers Peak, Bugsy and Mugsy (smoking), Rabbit Romeo, Hare-abian Nights, Wild and Woolly Hare, Horse Hare (12 missing...), Unmnetionables (smoking). I'll do another post for other characters. Many of these are due to any mention of Indians or people of Arabic descent, whether or not they are offensive. Others have offensive stereotypes. And some, like Operation: Rabbit are hard to figure out. My theory has to do with Wile E. mixing up explosives.

Continuing on CN no-plays: (Porky/Daffy): Curtain Razor, Claws for Alarm, My Little Duckaroo, China Jones, His Bitter Half, Golden Yeggs, Super Snooper, Stork Naked, Aqua Duck; (Speedy) none are played; (Foghorn) Egg-Cited Rooster, A Broken Leghorn, Crockett Doodle Doo; (Road Runner) virutally all played except (mercifully) maybe some of the later Larriva toons; (Pepe) Past Perfumance, Really Scent, and the 2 post 1960 toons for some reason; (Tweety) Tom Tom Tomcat, Catty Cornered, Tweety and Beanstalk, Trip for Tat, Rebel without Claws; (Misc) they play only a few misc. toons. As to what's in and what's out: IN -- any and all violence; OUT -- any and all smoking, any references to any ethnicity be they good, bad or indifferent, except A Pizza Tweetie Pie. They evidently do not want to edit these toons; for instance, the only problem with A Broken Leghorn seems to be a 5 second Mexican slur--they could easily cut that. The only edited toon I know of is Frigid Hare--where Bugs comments about not having to be back at work until a date in 1953. Of course, there may be others I'm unaware of.

It appears that steve a has been watching Cartoon Network attentively, and can list those Warner Brothers cartoons which rarely or never appear on this channel which they own. The reasons given are sound: the studio does not wish to condone suicide, promote smoking nor belittle ethnicity. Like anyone would, Warner Brothers Animation is trying to sweep their youthful indiscretions under the rug. Applause to steve a on the thoroughness of his no-show roster.
