You WIll Need To Reset Your Password!!!

We just moved hosts on this system, and this has caused a few updates. One is the way we encode and store the encoded passwords.

Your old passwords will NOT work. You will need to reset your password. This is normal. Just click on reset password from the log in screen. Should be smooth as silk to do...

    Sorry for the hassle.

    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

I could have sworn that the "U.S. of Archie" was part of "The Archie Show" and not a separate series. I do know it was part of the syndicated "The Archies" series.

To be quite honest, I didn't really like "U.S. of Archie".

Although Filmation Studios animated the Archie cartoon series, all rights and title to the characters remains with Archie Comics Group, and they're notorious for protecting their intellectual property like it's gold bullion. Unless ACG somehow scares up enough cash for their own disc printing works, it seems no Archie discs are forthcoming. It's unlikely they'd allow a contractor to do the work, or they'd have done that already. I expect what remains of ACG will take Archie and company to the grave, protected for a century or more under trademark law.

It seems as if Archie Comics Group wants to stick strictly to their primary focus, and that is comic books - mainly digests. I don't seem to see any print publications anymore except for digests which I see at supermarket checkouts. I don't seem to see any 36-page issues (or close to it). The most I see in terms of print publications are the Double Digests, which are now called "Jumbo Comics". This sounds like Archie Comics Group was struggling financially for years, and the release of a thicker digest - and jacking up the price to go with it - sounds like a desperate attempt to get back revenue they lost. I don't know how much longer Archie and company will survive in terms of published material, though it's been known now that the comic book industry is in decline for some years now. DC Comics is suffering now, and I wouldn't be shocked if Marvel is too. Many comic book fans know that Harvey Comics folded for good in August 1994 (they initially ceased in September 1982, but got rebooted in July 1986); and Gold Key/Whitman folded for good in 1984, though many stories were reprinted by other publishers, including Harvey.

I personally think graphic novels are the big thing now. Comic books are going the way of the dinosaur, as are many print media including newspapers.

And speaking of newspapers, in Newfoundland and Labrador (where I live), two years ago there were so many weekly print publications and one daily publication. Because of loss of ad revenue from COVID-19, it is assumed that the weekly newspapers have quietly ceased, and only one newspaper remains in my province now - the only daily publication, in St. John's.
