    Other Side Of Maleficent

I have been looking forward to Maleficent with equal amounts of anticipation and dread. On one hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, so cold and so pure, and I want desperately to see more of her and her back-story. On the other hand, she is easily my favorite Disney villain, and I would hate to see her parodied, taken lightly or ultimately destroyed in a film that does not understand this great character. The good news is that this film almost gets it right; but that is also the bad news.

    Disney To Feast In France

The follow up to Disney’s 2013 Academy Award Winning short Paperman has been announced, and it will premiere at France’s Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Titled The Feast, the short looks to be based on the same stylized CG techniques used on last years Paperman, a more natural and hand-drawn look to computer animation.

    Renegades of Animation: Pat Sullivan

Pat Sullivan became famous worldwide for his creation of Felix the Cat. What most animation histories gloss over is Sullivan’s checkered past and longtime standing as a wildcat renegade. He didn’t follow the rules. And he made damn sure to fully protect his intellectual properties.

No, that's not what I mean, what I mean is that when a vharacter gets in trouble with his mom or dad, they would get a spanking.

Cartoons such as "Bellboy Donald" where Donald spanks Pete Jr. for misbehaving or "Never Sock a Baby" where Popeye spanks Sweet Pea and Sweet Pea runs away because of it.

If you can find more cartoons, that would be appreciative.

Well, in Friz Freleng's funny '59 Bugs cartoon Apes Of Wrath, when makeshift-infant Bugs is delivered (by the good ol' drunk stork) to a gorilla couple, and the rabbit's alarmed at this prospect, Mama Gorilla says with a smile, "Naughty baby mustn't try to run away.....Mother 'PANK!!"

And, in the official introductions to Popeye's four nephews--in the Fleischer cartoons Wimmin Is A Myskeryand Pip-Eye, Pup-Eye, Poop-Eye An' Peep-Eye--Olive and Popeye each get a chance at whacking the mischievous quartet....until they take their uncle's cue, down some spinach, and turn the tables on the grownups!

Daffy Duck gets a splendid spanking from a bulldog after blowing up his doghouse in The Up-Standing Sitter [1948, dir. Bob McKimson]. As his spanking ends the toon, Daffy, on duty as a professional baby-sitter, admits that for the foreseeable future, he'll be doing his "sitting standing up."

In the anime Jack and the Beanstalk movie from the 70s, Jack's mother actually takes a broom and wallops him with it for selling the cow for those beans.

In "The Abominable Snow Rabbit" Huggo the abominable snow man spanks Daffy for "pretending to be a bunny rabbit". the same gag is reused in "Spaced Out Bunny" in which Hugo spanks Marvin for "Pretending to be a robot"

In "Wee-Willie Wildcat"- Barney Bear prevents his neighbor from spanking his bratty son. Later on, they both attempt to spank him only to hurt their hands because the wiley child has shoved the child handbook in his pants!

In "Brother Brat" Butch's mother spanks him with the book that Porky had been using the wrong way.

In "Kiss Me Cat" Mark Anthony is being spanked by his owner for throwing cheese into the mousehole.

Baby Buggy Bunny- Bugs spanks Babyface Finster and all his weapons fly out.

Mickey's Good Deed- The brat that tortures Pluto gets a spanking at the end.

Book Revue- After the lady from the Aldrich Family yells "Henry the eighth!" Henry runs home saying "Coming Mother!" Then she spanks him while calling him a naughty boy.

A Looney Tunes cartoon all of us left out:

One of Beans The Cat's few starring vehicles (without Porky), THE FIRE ALARM. Fireman Beans has been assigned to babysit bratty pups Ham & Ex. After a reelful of their antics, Beans is finally on to their faking it: with their final chorus of "Oh, How We Like To Fool The Firemen," Beans gives 'em a whipping.

(A rather kinky spanking, too--halfway thru it, Beans lifts up their tails to administer some more!)

The devilish bonus to any spanking is the kink that comes with it. As PatrickRsGhost noted earlier in Bimbo's Initiation, there's spanking a-plenty administered to Bimbo, and that's to be expected during any initiation. But it's at the cartoon's end when we learn that the shadowy guild that menaces Bimbo is really a pleasure palace fronted by Betty Boop! She spanks herself and does an uninhibited fanny-dance, which convinces Bimbo that he is actually one lucky dog (or whatever he is!). Then the happy couple spank each other as a bevy of Betties bear witness. Leave it to the Fleischers. The Hays Commission would soon put a stop to this flirtation with pleasures considered deviant (except by those who actually did them!).

Mickey gets into some Jazz spanking (without the sexuality of Bimbo and Betty) in The Jazz Fool when he breaks out of his piano-playing to beat a rhythm on his own bottom, then a riff rattling the piano lid, and finally pulling back the lid to beat the piano's bare buns!

In "Goofy Goat Antics", Ted Eshbaugh's first and only Goofy Goat cartoon, made in colour in 1931, Goofy makes an accordion out of a piano keyboard and a paper lantern. It suddenly becomes alive and gallops off like a caterpillar: when Goofy finally catches it he opens the back flap to reveal an incongruously fleshy bottom, which he duly spanks. (From the B&W print it's hard to tell, but I'm guessing it is coloured pink!)

In one of the Tom & Jerry's Two Mouseketeers cartoons, Nibbles keeps poking Jerry in the butt with his sword. In the end, Jerry spanks him because of it.

Native American "Moe Hican" gets paddled by his ex-butler ("Your ARROW, sir....") at the conclusion of Bob McKimson's The Oily American.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but in Donald's Snow Fight, Donald launches an ice bomb and it splits a wooden poll in three parts and each piece spanks a nephew.

In Pinocchio, one of Geppettos' clocks is a mom spanking her son who has his hand in the cookie jar.

In Now That Summer Is Gone, a young squirrel is spanked for gambling away the family's supply of acorns for the winter.

"Use child psychology, ma'am." There was a Woody Woodpecker short in which Woody hands a large book titled Child Psychology to the mother of a kid who acted unruly throughout the picture. Upon opening it, the book turned out to be completely hollowed-out, containing nothing but a hairbrush. She used said brush to give the boy a good whippin' as the cartoon faded out.
